King Edward’s does not offer financial assistance for entry to the Junior School. Means-tested bursaries are available for Year 7 and Year 12 entrants, and the school also offers hardship/emergency bursaries for current Senior School families whose circumstances change. In 2025–26 KES says it provided almost £1.3 million in bursary support to more than 100 Senior School pupils, with many Year 7 awards covering 40% to 100% of fees and up to 100% available.
Kingswood offers means-tested bursaries for pupils joining Years 7, 9 and 12. The school says support ranges from 10% to over 100% of fees and that bursary holders are spread across every Senior School year, including day, flexi-boarding and boarding places. Families are encouraged to discuss eligibility early, before formal assessment.
Kingswood says bursaries are not available for children attending Kingswood Preparatory School unless there are very exceptional circumstances. Its published bursary scheme is otherwise aimed at Senior School entry in Years 7, 9 and 12. No standard Prep bursary tariff or application route is published online.
Prior Park offers means-tested bursarial support to broaden access for eligible families. Families must be registered before applying, and the bursary application must be submitted before a place is offered; a bursary can also be added to a scholarship. Awards are reviewed each year.
Paragon’s fees page says bursaries are awarded under the Prior Park Schools means-tested policy in response to parental need, either to relieve difficulty for an existing Paragon family or to support entry to Prior Park College. The 2025 admissions policy adds that bursaries for new entrants to The Paragon are not generally considered. Any award replaces other discounts and is reviewed as family circumstances change.
Monkton says it offers bursaries alongside scholarships to support families who require financial assistance. Its public admissions pages do not currently publish a separate bursary policy, award range or formal eligibility thresholds online, but they do state that scholarship holders are looked on favourably when bursaries are awarded. The school also advertises separate discounts for military families.
Royal High Bath offers GDST means-tested bursaries for girls entering Year 7, external Year 9 and Sixth Form. Awards are for students with strong all-round academic ability whose families cannot cover the full fees; both income and assets are assessed, and bursaries are reviewed annually. The school says around 9% of pupils currently receive financial assistance, with all or part of fees paid.
Bath Academy’s official materials do not set out a formal published bursary scheme or means-tested criteria. The school says scholarships may be offered to students who show academic potential, and that requests for scholarships or bursaries can be discussed during the application stage. Families interested in financial support need to raise this directly with admissions.
Downside says its means-tested bursaries are available to pupils entering the school at all age levels and can also support current families whose financial circumstances change unexpectedly. The school’s bursary fund page says around one-third of pupils receive financial assistance, with awards ranging from 10% to fully funded transformational places and requiring around £2 million a year. Applications are handled in strict confidence and reviewed annually.
